Every year, when days start to stay colder and darker for longer and longer, a little part of us goes ignorant caveman and wants to magic away the end of the world with a brilliant flame. Artificial light is comforting, practical, and very pretty, and the winter holiday season’s the perfect time to enjoy it. “Lighthouse” turns on with self-illuminating works of art (curated by Landy Headley) spilling out of the darkened galleries and into the shadowy gardens of Alwun House.
Rad first-night events include music from a specially lit-up, video-interactive Captain Squeegee, a glass-bending demo by James White and ASU Neon Club, and a contest of glowing, sparkling, shining, flashing costumes that’s open to all. The show continues through Friday, January 6, 2012, with free admission and special evening hours.
