This January, the East Valley goes global and then some as downtown Chandler brings back its annual Multicultural Festival. The family-friendly event offers music, performances, and other arts from different regions around the world, with each festival striving to be more diverse than the last. This winter’s celebration of unity, which falls aptly on Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, features the Mexican folk music of husband and wife duo Dueto Tierra Bella, a Korean traditional music group led by Samulnori instructor Misuk Kujawski, Fushicho Daiko Drummers led by a Phoenix-based Taiko performing ensemble, belly dancing, a USA Naturalization Ceremony, vendors, and more.
The 19th Annual Multicultural Festival happens from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, at Chandler Public Library, 22 South Delaware Street. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.chandleraz.gov/unity or call 480-782-2214.
