When Cult Classics, one of the Valley’s finest film showcases, went kaput last month due to a rickety AC unit and a very sweaty showing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, curator Victor Moreno went scrambling to find his patrons a new locale in which to get their big screen fix while Tempe’s MADCAP Theaters fixed things up. Fortunately, the Zia Records-sponsored event is back in business at Tempe Pollack Cinemas, 1825 East Elliot Road, with a showing of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 ode to bloodlust The Lost Boys.

A very John Hughes-ish slice of ‘80s nostalgia — albeit spookier The Lost Boys took the idea of ravenous teenagers necking to another level, arguably portending the hugely successful Twilight saga decades prior. Find The Lost Boys during an all-ages screening on Saturday.
