Long before Grand Theft Auto and Tony Hawk came to fame, we dreamed of doing tricks off of traffic barriers and drop-top Impalas. In the eyes of a truly inspired daredevil, the paved urban Mecca of Phoenix is really just an extreme playground.
Lucky for us, Mountainside Fitness is helping venturers among us make that a reality. Although it will take place several miles east of downtown, the AZ Urban Race used metropolitan inspirations to create a 3-mile road race consisting of ten extreme obstacles. Hurdles include jumping over street barriers, climbing under a chain link fence, and climbing over storage units. After crossing the finish line, live music by The Chadwicks will greet competitors, as well as spirits and refreshments.
