Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You

We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$15,000

After a relentless quick eats takeover of the intersection at Seventh Avenue and McDowell Road, there’s a little glimmer of hope that not every inch of it will be consumed by the fast food dump (read: burgers, burgers, and, uh, subs).

The glimmer? That’d be Bethaney Soliere’s Boutique Solie, a lovely little shop with an animal-friendly outlook that’s freshly relocated from Scottsdale into a unit in the complex next to the former My Florist Cafe.

In the two-level shop with white-washed walls and exposed wood beams, you’ll find veg-friendly wares including Blank NYC jeans ($88), Matt & Nat handbags (around $200), Neuaura and Gomax shoes ($90), plus size options, loads of accessories like clutches and sunglasses at every price point, including pieces from local jeweler A. Lea, candles, a little section of kids clothing, and rotating local artwork (pieces from Amanda Adkins are currently on view).

There are also beauty products available, including lip plumper ($8) and Priti NYC nail polish ($13), and spray tans are available by appointment before and after store hours.

Art. Film. Dance. Books. Recreation. Even sex and dating. It’ll be fun, we promise.

Check out the loot for yourself when Soliere hosts a grand opening bash Friday, June 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. with cocktails, snacks, and giveaways. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed for more locals to take up residence on that corner — the unit next to Solie is currently open.

Boutique Solie is located at 1605 North Seventh Ave. It’s open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
