Most sequels we’re familiar with are rehashings of the first-round dreck we didn’t like anyway. In the art world, though, exhibition follow-ups often allow artists a deeper, extended look at the broached ideas.
That’s the case with Cheryle Marine, an eye lounge artist whose work has taken a short trip west to After Hours Gallery. Whether they are paintings, mixed media works, or concrete castings, Marine’s pieces are often thoughtful meditations on relationships that we have with each other and our surroundings. In her “Castaway, Part 2” exhibit at After Hours, the artist explores our tendency toward excess, even in our current dreary economic conditions.
