It’s impossible to hear the name “Charlie Murphy” and not picture a be-dreadlocked Dave Chappelle, dressed as a coked-out Rick James, yelling and kicking as he defiles Murphy’s couch. Or Prince, all mascara and jacket tassels, destroying Murphy and his crew in a game of pick-up basketball, then making everyone pancakes. Though Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories might be his most enduring legacy, the elder Murphy also has established himself as an accomplished comedian, having spent the past eight years touring, taping stand-up specials, and earning enough to buy plenty of new couches.

Murphy performs at 7 and 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, at Stand Up Live, 50 West Jefferson Street. Tickets start at $27. Call 480-719-6100 or visit www.standuplive.com for more.

Fri., Nov. 21, 7:30 & 10:15 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 22, 7 & 10:15 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 23, 7 p.m., 2014
