No team in Major League Baseball is as consistent or reliable as the Chicago Cubs.

For more than a century, the Cubbies have begun and ended every season without a title, which likely explains why Japanese outfielder Kosuke Fukudome decided to sign with the Boys in Blue three years ago. He’s a model of consistent mediocrity. Like the team he plays for, Fukudome has loads of talent. Like the team he plays for, Fukudome frequently gets fans excited with strong play at the start of the season. And, sadly, like the team he plays for, Fukudome leaves said fans utterly disappointed by the time October rolls around.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will have a chance to derail Fukudome’s annual strong start when the Cubs kick off a three-game stint at Chase Field, 401 East Jefferson, on Thursday, April 28.

Thu., April 28, 6:40 p.m., 2011
