John Waters is a gentleman, and so it’s unlikely that he will throw a Christmas tree at anyone who fails to gift him with a pair of cha-cha heels when he comes to Scottsdale. But the legendary filmmaker (Pink Flamingos, Hairspray) is certain to at least mention that infamous scene in his Female Trouble, in which Divine kills her parents with a giant spruce when they forget to buy her the dancing shoes she asked Santa for. Waters’ yuletide monologue covers everything from his fanatical love of La Claus and his collection of holiday horror stories to his love of giving (and receiving!) perverted Xmas gifts.
It’s not really Christmas until you’ve heard John Waters dissemble about the joys of ho-ho-hoing in A John Waters Christmas, so head to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
