They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Yet, not all pictures are created equal. A shot of a Lindsay Lohan nip-slip might fetch some big bucks for a paparazzo, but its subtext will only leave you with a few choice words.
When it comes to the work of fine art photographer Cig Harvey, a thousand words are just the beginning. She uses vintage fashions and classic design elements to make each image feel timeless, leaving viewers wanting to know more about the stories behind them.
An award-winning artist, Harvey has produced work for such major publications as The New York Times and Harper’s Bazaar and has shown her work in galleries around the country.
Saturdays; Fri., April 15, 6-9 p.m. Starts: April 2. Continues through April 29, 2011
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
