Folks trot Schrödinger’s cat out of its metaphorical box so often we forget that its alive/dead paradox was meant to mock what it now exemplifies. Perhaps incoherence is the fate of all arresting images, or maybe meaning, duality and interpretation are just slipperier than we think.
These are the complex issues tackled in “Schrödinger’s Menagerie,” an exhibition exploring our entangled selves, identities and forms and featuring works by a dozen locals including Logan Bellew, Daniel Funkhouser, Ryan Miller and Angela Young. The artists take on parallel lives, sexuality and gender — or do they? You’ll never know until you look.
