Unless you are of exceptional means and/or very particular taste, chances are the label inside your shirt doesn’t read “Made in the USA.” But more and more, American designers are contemplating a return to and celebrating stateside manufacturing. And thanks to advancing technology, increased creative control, and better oversight, it seems like a trend that’ll catch on sooner than later.

“Fashioned in America” gets in on the localized action with domestically designed and manufactured garments from such stateside designers as Oscar de la Renta, J. Mendel, and Nanette Lepore. The fashion exhibition will remain open in the Ellman gallery through Sunday, March 15, 2015, at 1625 North Central Avenue. Admission is $15 for adults. In conjunction with the exhibit, James Belzer’s documentary Make it in America Empowering Global Fashion will screen on Friday, January 2. For details about the exhibition, film, and other associated programming, visit www.phxart.org or call 602-257-1880.

Thursdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, 12-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; First Friday of every month, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Starts: Oct. 11. Continues through March 15, 2014
