With the right amount of confidence and enough liquid courage, anyone can be a karaoke star for a night. What takes true bravery, however, is being able to perform your own material in front of a crowd at the peril of being booed off the stage.
One such opportunity to test one’s musical mettle comes during the biweekly Clown Shoes Jam at the Lost Leaf. It works particularly well if you’re a practitioner of funk, soul, or hip-hop. Aspiring singers and seasoned emcees alike can test their skills at the freestyle event focused on collaboration and improvisation. Mic Cause of Dunken Immortals fame hosts the event and welcomes those willing to try their hand at unleashing some dope grooves on the craft beer-sipping crowd.
The jam session takes place at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, at 914 North Fifth Street.
Tue., Sept. 20, 9:30 p.m., 2011
