A bicycle built for two is fine and all, but a bicycle built for the whole community? That could really shake things up. Which is exactly what Grid Bike Share plans to do by bringing a proposed 1,000 bikes to Tempe, Phoenix, and Mesa.
Until that bike share program gets rolling however (estimated launch date is early 2014) Grid and CO+HOOTS are gearing up with a free outdoor event, Pedal the Parks.

Pedal the Parks will kick off Saturday, April 12, at CO+HOOTS with an 11 a.m. demo by the Grid Bike Share program. There visitors can grab a bite from The Roasted Shallot food truck before hopping on their own bikes for a leisurely ride through downtown parks including the pop-up park at Matt’s Big Breakfast, Eastlake Park, Vernon Avenue’s pocket park by Shine Coffee, Margaret T. Hance Park, Downtown Civic Space Park, Encanto Park, and Steele Indian School Park.
This community bike ride will be led by 2014 Big Brain Awards Finalist, Phoenix Spokes People. For more information on Pedal the Parks, visit the event on Facebook.
