Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
This fall Phoenix Public Library is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with ¡Celebramos!, a Valley-wide series of cultural events that explore the sights, sounds, and stories of Latin America. This four week program of community-based arts events will include La Cultura Cura: Writing and Storytelling, an evening of spoken word performances. Join the local Latin American literary group Los Hijos de La Llorona and author Stella Pope Duarte as they present a compilation of original shorts stories and poems. A native of south Phoenix, Duarte has published books including If I Die in Juárez, Fragile Night, and Let Their Spirits Dance.
La Cultura Cura takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, inside the meeting room at Palo Verde Library, 4402 North 51st Avenue. Admission is free and no registration is required. For more information, call 602-262-4636 or visit www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org.
