The mantra “print is dead” has been trumpeted for the past decade, but — sorry haters — readers gonna read. Comic books, in particular, have kept eyeballs glued to pages. Free Comic Book Day will be celebrated all across the Valley this Saturday, May 4, and with it the Arizona Comic Mini Expo will return for its second year.
The good folks of ACME have grown the Free Comic Book Day tradition to focus on the creative forces behind the stunning visuals and gripping narratives. At ACME will host more than 20 comics creators, including colorists Brian and Kristy Miller, Val Hochberg (writer and artist of Mystery Babylon), Cory Walker (artist and co-creator of Image Comics’ Invincible), and Erik Larsen (Image Comics co-founder and creator of The Savage Dragon). All of them will mingle and share what they love about their art form.
Sat., May 4, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 2013
