Thankfully, Tempe is free from 150-foot-tall marshmallow men and green ectoplasm blobs with bad manners. But there is something strange going on in the neighborhood, at least according to paranormal experts who will attempt to document the haunted happenings at Monti’s La Casa Vieja on Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway with a Ghost Hunt.
Katie Mullaly of Tucson’s Wailing Bansidhe Investigations and fellow investigators will tour guests through the restaurant until the wee hours, testing for cold spots and recording spooky sounds. “The building, as it grew, has been used as a hotel, post office, general store, and blacksmithing shop,” says Mullaly. “Given its multitude of uses and its ties to state history, it’s as good a place as any to have ghosts roaming about.”
Amityville Horror survivor Christopher Quaratino and actress Tiffany Shepis will also make appearances (as will some Tempe murder victims and ancient Native Americans, if the spook-searchers get their way).
