Ain’t nothin’ chilly about Florida, so it’s not surprising that Orlando native DJ Icey supposedly received his moniker because of his love for air conditioning. Icey is known for blending elements of Chicago hip house with English break-beat house (a sound that was dubbed “funky breaks”) and was a driving force in Florida’s progressive house and trance scene during the ‘90s. He has even remixed music for electronic-music heavyweights like Groove Armada and Paul Oakenfold.
