There are a handful of teams that will always be a central part of their sports’ identity. For example, no matter how bad the Dallas Cowboys are, people will shell out big money to watch them play, because they’re the Dallas freaking Cowboys.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will be playing one of these teams, the hated New York Yankees. The Yanks, with a lineup packed full of All-Star caliber, are the clear favorites to win, but that’s not really the point. The game is an opportunity to see the New York freaking Yankees. Regardless of the outcome, it will be worth being there just to see them play baseball, something the 2010 D-backs have forgotten how to do.
