Between a Fox News commentator’s assertion that The Muppets is brainwashing children to revile big business and a crew of Phoenix musicians banding together to cover the songs of Kermit creator Jim Henson, there’s been plenty of word on the furry, funny monster front in recent weeks.
And when FilmBar hosts its Goblin King New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball, you can bet the shindig’s theme revolves around Henson’s 1986 fantasy flick Labyrinth. Fans of the film will recall the bizzaro dream sequence in which Jennifer Connolly’s Sarah is wooed by David Bowie’s Jareth. Imagine that as a real-life party (masks required) with a midnight champagne toast and plenty of ‘80s tunes for dancing, and that should give you a good idea of what will go down at this ball.
