$10,000

During the holidays, there are a few traditional activities and events that are completely lost on us desert folk. Take Christmas music for example: a white winter in Arizona is one heck of a dream. Iconic images of ice skaters in Central Park and lighting the Rockefeller Center’s oversize tree are merely reminders that sunbathing in January is totally acceptable here.

The people at CityScape are trying to change all that and land Phoenix on the holidays-in-the-big-city map. The second annual tree lighting takes place along with the grand opening of its outdoor skating rink. The event features holiday music, refreshments, entertainment, and, of course, ice skating.
