Arizona State University quarterback Brock Osweiler was only eight years old the last time the Sun Devils beat University of Southern California on the gridiron. In the intervening 12 years, the Trojans have won five conference titles (seven if you count the two USC won while violating of NCAA rules) and made seven high-profile Bowl Championship Series appearances. Conversely, ASU’s best season during that same time span culminated in a lopsided loss at the Holiday Bowl.
The Devils have a chance to make up for lost time on Saturday, September 24, when they host the Trojans at Sun Devil Stadium, 500 East Veterans Way, Tempe. And they’d better be feeling their Wheaties if they hope to conquer the titanic Trojans, who are as fierce as ever. Keyed by Osweiler’s play, the Devils are off to a strong start this season, making good on preseason predictions that they’ll be contenders in the ultra-competitive Pac-12 South. Even so, they’ll need all the talent they can muster to end their losing streak against USC, a team absolutely loaded with top-shelf talent this season.
