No matter how hard we try, it’s almost impossible to predict the next hippest trends. Reality TV took the world by surprise. No one saw fixies coming until everyone had one. Leggings worn as pants? If someone saw that trend coming, couldn’t they have stopped it? And now everyone is running obstacle courses in mud. Why didn’t we think of that?

The next major mud run event, Mud Sweat and Beers, is a four-mile muddy obstacle course challenging runners with hay bales, balance beams, tire maze, tunnels, puzzles, cargo net crawl, a rope gauntlet, and two mud pits. Mussed-up competitors are greeted at the finish line with live music, food, beer, and muddy high fives.
