Are lobbyists for animal rights still considered “fringe activists”? New Times asked the expert, Gene Baur, best-selling author of Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food. Said Baur: “There is a long history of animal protection and rescue efforts in the U.S., and although our work is often denigrated by those whose practices we challenge, most citizens oppose animal cruelty and feel good when animals are rescued from bad situations and allowed to live out their lives in peace at sanctuaries.” (A “bad situation,” in this case, entails being dragged by the hindquarters and thrown bloated and barely breathing from a truck.)
At 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, Baur visits Changing Hands Bookstore for a signing of Farm Sanctuary.
