Michel Khleifi’s groundbreaking 1987 film looks at the Palestinian culture from twin vantage points: through the eyes of the participants at a traditional Palestinian wedding ceremony and from the point of view of the occupying Israeli powers-that-be. Though Khleifi is a Nazareth-born Palestinian, the film (which won the International Critics Prize at the ’87 Cannes Film Festival) was funded and produced in Israel.
