The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
Sadly, there’s a lot of Phoenix neighborhoods where the sight of people frolicking in the mud would hardly garner a glance from passersby, but when the muddy mayhem goes down in a squeaky clean part of Scottsdale, the necks of passersby get downright rubbery. Consider yourself warned.
On Saturday, June 8, that sometimes-snooty Phoenix ‘burb plays host to the 38th annual Mighty Mud Mania. Sure, an obstacle course made of mud might be a typical Tuesday afternoon for some, but credit Scottsdale for providing an over-the-top op for everyone else to see what all the fuss is about. And while MMM is most certainly geared towards the 12-and-under kiddos, for a measly $10 (all of which goes to charity) grownups and those older than 13 can tackle the extreme mud course as well. The mud-slinging begins at 8 a.m. at Chaparral Park, 5401 North Hayden Road. General admission is free. Visit www.scottsdaleaz.gov/mightymudmania for details.
