It seems likely that Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin, the Baroness Dudevant, would have been delighted that Frederic Chopin, with whom she had a ten-year-long affair, has set her life to music. But the Baroness, better known today as the French novelist George Sand, has been dead for more than a hundred years, and so it is up to us to be delighted in her stead during “Remembering Chopin: A Musical Conversation.” The concert, performed by pianist Pamela Howland, is part of ASU’s Chopin Extravaganza series, in which Herberger Institute School of Music faculty, students, and special guests honor the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth in a semester-long celebration.
