Considering its proximity to the country that spawned the Beatles, Stones, and Radiohead, you’d think France might’ve caught some of England’s musical fairy dust by now, but that ever-so-snooty country to the south has historically churned out little more than the wine that everyone enjoys while listening to non-French music.
Thanks, however, to the brilliant groundwork laid by pop connoisseurs Air and Daft Punk, rockers such as Phoenix and M83 have had silky smooth landings on America’s often bumpy musical tarmac. M83, whose epic brand of electropop is infused with enough teenage nostalgia to intoxicate the most cocksure of Frenchmen, touches down at Crescent Ballroom on Monday.
