Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
The State of the Union Address is the government’s way of telling us that everything still sucks, but in a way that doesn’t make us want to go postal. The Prez accomplishes this with concerned facial expressions or, in Dubya’s case, bad grammar and mangled diction.
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon does it with tons of free food. Mayor G will talk about the changes in store for our city, including the timeline for downtown’s massive CityScape development, against a backdrop of live music, shopping, and free grub provided by local restaurants during Dining in the Streets: A Taste of Downtown Phoenix. Hopefully, Gordon will bear good news about the local economy — but if anything’s hard to swallow, at least you’ll have free drinks to wash it down.
