No offense to good intentions, but most fundraisers aimed at stamping out social ills are, by definition, no fun. Phoenix’s AIDS Walk, a benefit for 16 AIDS/HIV service nonprofits, itself benefits greatly from its proximity and relationship to one of the city’s truly convivial affairs, the Rainbows Festival & Street Fair.
More than 5,000 walkers will do their duty at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, October 4, after which many will make their way from the course (which starts at Phoenix City Hall to nearby Heritage Square for day two of Rainbows, which starts at noon.
On-site registration opens at 7. Admission ranges from $10 (for the mini Paws for the Cause walk) to $25.
