Of the many variations of the legend of The Flying Dutchman, composer Richard Wagner focused on the part where the ghost ship’s doomed captain can be released from his perpetual wandering by the love of a truly faithful woman. (We saw Florence Henderson accomplish this feat on Fantasy Island once.) The ending is almost happy — let’s just say that heroine Senta rushes the whole “salvation” process a bit, to the extent that anything Wagnerian can be rushed.

An Arizona Opera board member has created a Craigslist ad for the Dutchman, which will either attract new opera fans or disappoint a lot of single ladies. We have a feeling he’ll meet someone on stage Friday, November 15, shortly after the 7:30 p.m. curtain time at Symphony Hall, 75 North Second Street. Tickets are $25 to $135 at www.azopera.org or 602-266-7464. The Phoenix run continues through Sunday, November 17.

Fri., Nov. 15, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 16, 1 & 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 17, 2 p.m., 2013
