Steven Spielberg mercifully delivered us from crudely rendered on-screen dinosaurs with Jurassic Park 20 years ago. Whether the blockbuster was the beginning of your love of ancient reptiles or just one of the high points in your paleontological fixation, you’ll wanna claw your way to the Phoenix DinoCon Saturday, July 27.
In its first year, DinoCon adds some geeky fanfare to the dinosaur exhibits that the Arizona Museum of Natural History has open yearround. A full roster of prehistorically inspired panels include arts and crafts led by Patty Jimenez, musings from graphic designer Bobby Tyning on the sweetest line of Transformers, the broken English speaking DinoBots, and some science-dropping from teen dinosaur and fossil expert Ben Mohler.
The Phoenix DinoCon roars it up from noon to 4 p.m. at the Arizona Museum of Natural History, 53 North MacDonald Road in Mesa. Admission is free with a reservation and general admission to the museum. More info is at www.phxdinocon.com.
