From shih tzus to sheepdogs, the finest purebreds around will be on display at the Great Arizona Dog Show this Friday, January 9, at Glendale’s Camelback Ranch, 10710 West Camelback Road. Whether you’re a full-blown fancier or a casual admirer of man’s best friend, there will be plenty of canine eye candy on hand at the three-day event. In the fiercely competitive world of dog showing, owners enter breeds of all shapes and sizes in various obedience and conformation competitions hoping to capture the coveted ‘Best In Show’ award. Perhaps it was actor Fred Willard said it best in the film Best In Show, “to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten,” not in ‘Merica, Fred. Competitions begin at 8 a.m. For details visit www.azdogshow.com or call 623-302-5000.
