Usually we associate Greek life with jungle juice and neon tank tops. But this weekend things will get a little more authentic (and a lot less frat-tastic) at the 52nd Annual Greater Phoenix Greek Festival, a celebration of all things culturally Greek.

The Mediterranean merrymaking kicks off at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community Center, 1973 East Maryland Avenue, on October 12. Guests can indulge all the senses with food, drink, music and folk dancing from one of the oldest cultures in the world. The menu includes such familiar treats as baklava and calamari, as well as authentic Greek spirits ouzo and retsina. Souvenirs like Mediterranean grocery items and jewelry will be available at a marketplace.
