When the local chapter of design organization AIGA teamed up with the movie junkies at FilmBar for a monthly series, we knew we were in for a treat. On the last Monday of every month, the twosome have featured films about typography, industrial design, architecture, fine art, and graphic design.
On Monday comes their screening of Handmade Nation, a documentary by artist Faythe Levine that captures the wave of handmade crafts and designs that have seen their own pop-up stores, traveling fairs, and Etsy explosions. For the film, Levine traveled more than 19,000 miles — to 15 cities across the county — to talk to the creatives behind the movement about their own inspirations, processes, and products.
