Herberger Theater Center will indeed reopen on October 1 — the complex at 222 East Monroe Street has been closed since May 17 while undergoing its final phase of renovations. And that means it’ll need some rad art for its new and improved space.

Now through October 4, the contemporary art-focused Herberger Theater Center’s art gallery is looking for artists for its first two shows in 2011.

Sacred Places” from January through March, and “Sacred Messages” from April through June. Guest curator Jim Covarrubias, a Hispanic artist with longtime roots in the Phoenix art scene, will select the exhibits, which are open to entries in all medias.
