Is there any aspect of sport more gripping than a hockey fight? Gloves tossed on the ice act as starting flags. The crowd rises and roars. The pugilists involved twirl around the rink in a flurry of yanked jerseys and swinging fists. What’s amazing is that this behavior is permitted — the refs watch at a distance, allowing the men to settle their differences the old-fashioned way. It’s efficient, it’s brutal, and it’s exactly what you’ll get when you watch the Phoenix Coyotes dig into a damn good Detroit squad Monday, March 25. Who knows? You might even catch a hockey game while you’re at it.
