Robert Hutchison and Tom Maul aren’t afraid to drill a few holes.
The Seattle-based architecture duo are well-known for their public building and private home remodel and design projects, but the two also gained recognition for a series of installation art pieces, created in Seattle farmhouses slated for demolition.
Hutchinson and Maul drilled holes into the façades of the old houses and invited the public in to see the effect of natural light and basic architectural elements. The two write that their installation pieces aim to “celebrate the history and past use of existing buildings, while highlighting their architectural qualities and potential for reuse.”
