$10,000

Pack your creative projects, fashionable sensibilities, and art-hungry eyes and head downtown for the Grand Avenue Festival. The daylong celebration of the neighborhood’s small businesses and artists will feature tours of shops, vintage commercial buildings, and adaptive-reuse projects, as well as a handful of curated indoor and outdoor art exhibitions and a recycled fashion show.

What we’re really excited about? Local artist Jenny Ignaszewski’s pamphlet “Mural Street Love” – a self-guided tour to the neighborhood’s murals by artists Luster Kaboom, David Chacon, Francisco “Enuf” Garcia, and more.

The festival is from 3 to 11 p.m. along Grand Avenue. Tours are from 3 to 7 p.m. Pedicabs will cruise the street to take visitors to festival activities, though organizers say visitors can easily walk or bike to each destination. Most activities are free.

Sat., Oct. 22, 3-11 p.m., 2011
