It seems like everyone in the world has a smartphone with photo and video capabilities and we’ve collectively recorded all the non-official footage of major musical acts in existence. But if you think you’ve seen everything, you’re wrong, friend.

Sonic Orphans is a collection of lost and found musical performances, photos, and other clips compiled by documentary filmmaker Bill Daniel. The 16mm film reel features rarely seen footage shot between 1965 and 1987 of legendary bands including The Beatles, The Avengers, The Huns, Boy Problems, Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers, Johnny Cash, and Tennessee Ernie Ford. Daniel skipped Phoenix during his fall 2010 screening tour, but he’s making it up with his visit this week.
