One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action, and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?
Like a true Phoenician, Nancy Hill is sick of the heat. And like a true creative, she’s taking it out on her letterpress and a few coasters.
Hill owns Hazel and Violet INK in downtown Phoenix. During a busy First Friday, she was pumping out her coasters, aptly printed “HOT AS HELL”.
Yes, it’s been a record summer for blazing temperatures (as well as humidity and a few memorable haboobs). And yes, a ton of Downtown businesses and studios, including Hill’s, Phoenix are equipped with a/c units and or swamp coolers that don’t quite cut it when it’s more than 110 degrees on a Friday afternoon.

Instead of complaining, Hill laid out her message in a bold typeface, slathered the ink, and started printing.
You can check out the coasters and more of Hill’s work at Hazel and Violet, 714 N. Fourth St. in Phoenix or on the studio’s website.
