The Arizona Rattlers are no longer chasing history, but that may not be the worst thing in the world. Last month’s loss to the San Jose Sabercats cut the Rattler’s bid for a perfect season short, but it also relieved a certain amount of pressure. Rather than playing every game with the emotional strain of having a perfect season on the line, the team can focus on winning the game in front of them. Alternatively, the loss may be so devastating that the team never truly recovers.
We’ll have a better idea of how the Rattlers will respond to last month’s gut-punch after Sunday, July 20’s match-up against the Portland Thunder at US Airways Center, 201 East Jefferson Street. It figures to be an easy win for Arizona (Portland is pretty bad) so a loss would be telling.
