With festival season in full swing, it’s time to pay tribute to the country that brought us plate breaking, gyros, and the original Snuggie, a.k.a. the toga. The Phoenix Greek Festival returns this fall for a three-day celebration of Hellenic tradition. This family-friendly event includes genuine Greek grub, a taverna with Greek beer and wine, Greek dancing, live Greek Music, Grecian-style art and jewelry, as well as tours of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Hellenic Museum of Phoenix.
The 53rd Annual Greek Festival brings the “opa!” all weekend long from Friday, October 11, through Sunday, October 13, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1873 East Maryland Avenue. Daily admission is $3. Festival hours run 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Visit www.phoenixgreekfestival.org or call 602-264-2791.
