Phoenix has certainly kicked off the new year on an athletic note. Between the bowls and opens, even the Suns are in the midst of an unprecedented eight-game home stand. It’s as if the world’s finest athletes are all descending upon the Valley at once. And then there’s Jim Gaffigan. The 48-year-old comic is decidedly not athletic. In fact, the Illinois native has made quite a living by talking about junk food. If Gaffigan isn’t belaboring the struggles of parenthood, then he’s probably sharing one of his many observations on bacon. Healthy or not, the father of five and self-proclaimed McDonalds lover has his audiences eating out of the palm of his hand, and lovin’ it. Gaffigan visits Scottsdale’s Talking Stick Resort, 9800 East Indian Bend Road, at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 29. Tickets to the 21-and-over show are $45 and up. Performances continue through Saturday, January 31. Visit www.ticketmaster.com or call 480-850-7777 for details.

Thu., Jan. 29, 8 p.m.; Fri., Jan. 30, 8 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., Jan. 31, 2015

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
