Which is weirder: the fact that Balthrop, Alabama (the town), has a population of approximately 11, or that Balthrop, Alabama (the band), is actually located in New York City? Truthfully, neither fact seems all that strange after watching one of (the band’s) videos. The quirky, anti-folk group performs ditties about loving dead people in a non-necrophilic way as well as practicing religion-fueled violence while dancing so whimsically that you hardly even notice the morbidness. The South meets the Big Apple meets the Valley at The Rogue Bar as part of the spot’s new Hi-Fidelity Fridays (which are broadcast live on local station KWSS-FM 106.7).
