Now that our beloved music blog, Up on the Sun, has covered the music side of this event, we’ll get in on the art end of the action.

For this year’s Hoodstock benefit event at Hoodlums Music & Video in Tempe, organizers recruited kids from local Broadmor Elementary School to create art on vinyl.

The works will be displayed during Hoodstock, happening this Friday and Saturday and the proceeds benefit Broadmor’s intervention program.

Using a pile of old records and 45’s as canvas, teachers and parents organized their little ones to paint and draw on the vinyl. Just take a look at some of the original designs they came up with (after the jump).

This year, make your gift count –
Invest in local news that matters.

Our work is funded by readers like you who make voluntary gifts because they value our work and want to see it continue. Make a contribution today to help us reach our $30,000 goal!

$30,000

Cuuuuuute!

All proceeds from the art sales go directly to Broadmor.

You can help in other ways, too. Cough up a few bucks at the door and get your very own hand stamp. Then shop at some of the neighboring businesses during the event. Flash that thing when you make your purchase at Hoodlums Music & Movies (naturally), Changing Hands Bookstore, Mac’s Broiler and Tap, Here on the Corner, and Bobbie’s Flowers and they’ll donate a percentage of the sale to Broadmor.

Oh, and you can buy a poster or a tee shirt designed by Moses Anshell with 100% of the sale going to the cause.
