The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
Americans suck at death. To us, mortality is so taboo that when it actually happens, we survivors emotionally crumble. We could learn a thing or two from our hermanos from Mexico, who aren’t afraid to face death straight on.
A good place to start is the Dia de los Muertos Celebration. The event will surely expedite closure with sugar skulls, traditional dance and music, and an ofrenda/altar to place disposable photos of your dead relatives. There’ll also be tours of the Museum’s excellent exhibit “El Espejo Mexico Americano/The Mexican American Mirror.”
