There’s plenty of drama all around us, from over-the-top friends to reality TV. But most of that drama is nothing more than chaos, and when it comes to artistic drama — well, that’s a whole different thing.

Known for its impressive expressiveness and technical mastery, Limón Dance Company offers that other kind of drama. The contemporary troupe comes to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, with new and classic works.

Led by Artistic Director Carla Maxwell, the company celebrates its 65th anniversary by showcasing two works choreographed by José Limón: Mazurkas from 1958, with music by Frédéric Chopin and The Moor’s Pavane (Variations on a Theme of Othello) from 1949, with music by Henry Purcell.

Fri., Feb. 22, 8 p.m., 2013
