Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You

We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

To paraphrase the almighty Mark Twain, reports of Cherry Lounge’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Sure, you might’ve heard rumors about how the crimson-colored Mill Avenue club was forced to temporarily shut things down recently (which was necessitated after a spat with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control). But as of last week, the joint is once again open for naughty business and has resumed its weekly slate of dope dance nights. That includes Love/Hate Tuesdays, where the track-tossing triumvirate of DJ Slippe, DJ Earth, and DJ Breeze bring hip-hop, Top 40, and electro to the 18-plus masses. Ladies can also receive discounted cover with college ID before 11:30 p.m., and those clubgoers 21-and-over can get $1 well drinks, Bud Lights bottles, and Black Cherry Vodka concoctions until 10 p.m.
