We remember the prime of First Friday, a time when the monthly downtown art walk wasn’t a carnival and actually allowed one to peruse the latest exhibits. Luckily, artists and galleries have started pumping some focus into alternate days, such as Third Fridays.

Artist Mad One takes it one step further by holding his reception on a second Friday at Atmosphere, where one can expect to see his work spanning various media with a definite street slant. Mad One (Mike Neely to the layperson) is a busy guy. He holds down a regular nine-to-five gig, travels with his art, curates the annual “Sticker Phiends” show, and self-publishes Urban Communication, a survey of the past decade of his work. With that kind of grind, we’re not sure when he actually has time to create.
